By now I'm sure you have all seen the appalling drivel written by the editor of Nails Magazine. If you haven't, you can see it here. The editor then wrote a follow up letter as an "apology" which simply added more fuel to the fire because, as you can read here, it was the worst apology I've ever seen!
Of course, I had a bit to say on the topic so I wrote a couple of posts, one to someone by the name of "nail polish fan" (real original, huh?) who was insisting that we all made mega bucks from our blogs and were constantly having free polishes thrown at us. As I wrote my reply, I wrote my name as "Emma (Nails in the Desert)" but left the URL space blank. I had a funny feeling that this "nail polish fan" was going to stalk my blog and throw some pissweak putdown at me about it. I figured that if she wanted to look at my blog, she could go and damn well find it for herself.
I was so right!
I got a comment back saying "@nails in the desert I'm a moron,eh? I just looked at your "blog".I can certainly see why no one's offering you anything."
Although I was expecting it, I was still surprised by the comment. And then I rolled my eyes and thought to myself "seriously, I saw that coming because I can tell what a pathetic individual this person is."
I blog for myself and for my followers. My followers are people who want to read my blog. People who comment make my day because I know they are enjoying what I'm writing and showing them!
I started my blog about three months ago and when I compare my nail photos from then to now, I am amazed. I have made some serious progress. My manis have gotten neater and more adventurous, and my photos have gotten a lot better. I still have a long way to go, but damnit, no one is going to ruin this for me! Blogging about nails is my outlet and I'm going to keep doing it. Who cares if one person who is obviously threatened by the blogging world makes a dig at you?
I have made some good friends from blogging, and I'm not going to let one person ruin it.

Who cares what stupid commenter says, I love reading your blog. And I'm laughing at what I imagine her skills are like. She's just jealous.
ReplyDeleteThese jealous bitches. Hannah obviously can't stand that bloggers and even non blogging consumers are getting ahead of a lot of the nail techs! Um, the way life works is that to stay ahead in your profession you have to put in a lot of time and effort to stay on the cutting edge! If you don't, someone else gets ahead of you (aka blogosphere.) If that were the case for most nail salons, not so many bloggers would be around.
