The Face Shop PK105 with Breast Cancer nail art

This mani holds a special place in my heart. My best friend B has suffered from breast cancer twice, and she is kicking its butt!

I painted my nails with The Face Shop PK105, the perfect Barbie pink. Then I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try some freehand nail art … breast cancer ribbons!

 

This is two coats of The Face Shop’s PK105. And the Breast Cancer ribbons in BYS French White with Konad rhinestones in the middle.

This is my very first attempt at freehand nail art, so be gentle!!! I think it turned out okay, bit wobbly and thick though!!! Freehand is TOUGH!!

Then I jazzed it up a bit with a coat of Cherimoya 2012 Cracked nail polish in Eternity (black).

 

 

Watcha think? B loved them, so that was all that mattered to me

BYS French White + Cherimoya 2012 Judgement Day

I was in the mood for a simple mani over the weekend because I was still getting over my sickness. The very effort of putting my clothes in the washing machine had me breaking out in a fevered sweat so I knew I had to keep my nails simple or risk passing out and waking up with my face stuck to my nails.

Don’t laugh, last year I had this same kind of illness and I pushed myself to go to uni and ended up passing out at a bus stop, throwing up on my way down and splitting my face open. I ended up with a hell of a black eye, graze down one side of my face and four stitches in a big cut above my eye. I have some awesome photos of it

I learnt a massive lesson from that: when you’re feeling sick, it is just not worth pushing yourself.

I pushed myself to go to uni because my tutor threatened the whole class pretty much every week by saying “you MUST come to EVERY lecture and tutorial or you will not pass. If you miss a class, you have to have a damn good excuse. You have to be on your deathbed.”

So I went to uni and I paid the price.

I learnt that sometimes it is just not worth it to push yourself. Nothing is worth putting yourself at risk for. Nothing is more important than your own personal health and wellbeing.

Anyway, lecture over. I hope you learnt something from it too

Onto the good stuff:

 

Two coats of BYS French White with a layer of Cherimoya 2012 Crackle in Judgement Day.

Preeeeeeeeeeeetttyyyyy! I really wanted to use the French White as a base for something but I knew it would apply like a biatch (and I was right).

Two coats later and I still had a streaky mess. But meh, what does that matter when you’re layering a pretty colour like Judgement Day on top!?

Have I ever mentioned how much I love these crackles!? I decided to go matte today, so this was a very quick job. The Cherimoya dries pretty much instantly so you don’t have to worry about smudging.

In the photo, you can see the French White. But not long after I took the photo, the Cherimoya started to “stain” the white, so now it is an awesome light but bright pink. I think it looks pretty awesome. I can understand that it would be annoying if you wanted to keep the white, but it worked for me

LA Colors Aqua Crystals with Cherimoya 2012 Cracked in Apocalypse and Typhoon

These Cherimoya 2012 Crackles are cool.

I layered it over my LA Colors Aqua Crystals mani because I didn’t want to take the Aqua Crystals off

These are oil based polishes, so they smell a little funky. But they start cracking literally the second you stop painting and dry super fast.

 

Cherimoya Apocalypse (no top coat).

 

They also dry matte, which I really like, because you can choose if you want to leave them matte or apply a top coat to get the shine.

 

Cherimoya Typhoon is awesome matte. It’s such a pretty blue. Don’t mind my funky coloured fingers. I took this under a very yellow lamp and had to tweak the colours in Photoshop to get the blue right. In the process, my hands look really weird.

 

This is Typhoon with a coat of SV. Looks so different, right? I can’t decide which I like more!

Again, excuse the freaky hands.

 

I really like these crackles. I love how quick they are and they apply really easily and neatly. They also don’t flake if you apply them over a top coat, like the BYS Cracked’s do, so it’s such a good way to liven up a tired mani.

 

Can’t wait to try Judgement Day (purple) and Eternity (blue). Why didn’t I get the dark green?!?!?!

Beauty Joint order!

Woohoooo I rushed home from work today to see whether I had a note left for me to pick something up from the post office, and I did

I got stuck leaving work behind a huge line of people trailing a huge truck doing 20km/hr. It was painful, I tell ya. But I made it to the post office with five minutes to spare and to my surprise, my Beauty Joint order was waiting! I thought it was going to be my Coastal Scents holo and glitter pigments, but I got a pleasant surprise.

 

Anyhoo, onto the haul.

 

Cherimoya crackles in Eternity, Apocalypse, Typhoon and Judgement Day. Awesome names These are oil based so I was very curious about them. They look like amazing colours.

 

Kleancolor (it feels so wrong to write that without a ‘u’) Firework, Disco Ball, Sparkle Purple and Holiday Jingle. These look fun and good for layering

 

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black and Chunky Holo Bluebell. Everyone seems to love the black and it does look pretty sweet, so I had to give it a go.

 

Kleancolor Metallic Aqua and Metallic Green. These two look soooooo pretty. I can’t wait to try them! They are just the shades I’ve been looking for, can’t wait to see if they live up to my expectations!

 

Would you believe it only cost me $45 for this whole lot including shipping? 12 polishes, that’s an average of $3.75 a polish and that’s including postage!
