Custom Polish–Purple Pixie

Hi all,

I hope you’re having a relaxing weekend! I thought I’d share with you today one of my newer custom polish creations for Love Thy Polish. This is Purple Pixie:

PurplePixie1ct2

Indoors in my light box. Beautiful purple Open-mouthed smile I love it!

Now for the outdoors shots:

PurplePixie1ct

Ah-MAZING!!! Check out those rainbows! I’m in love Open-mouthed smile This was only two coats, the second done just for intensity and not coverage. I wore this for a good three days without any chips.

Here’s a slightly washed out photo to see those pretty rainbows a bit more:

PurplePixie1ct3

*Drool*

Don’t you just love holos?! If you’re interested in buying a bottle, they are $15 each and you can leave a comment below or email me: zeedeveelgirl AT gmail DOT com.

Custom Polish–You’re On My Turf

Another custom polish. I seem to like the green holos at the moment, and that's just fine with me! It's been sunny and hot here so a perfect opportunity to show off the gorgeous rainbow effect that Spectraflair gives custom polishes.

Here is You're On My Turf:
You'reOnMyTurf2ct
Two coats. Goooorgeous mid-green holo :D Love it!

You'reOnMyTurf2ct2

I have been so addicted to holos lately, and I love that I can make my own so easily.

Have you been mixing up any polishes lately?

Custom Polish–Grass Roots

I made this custom polish the other day and I’m so pleased with it. Once again I was trying to make a dark green holo but didn’t quite get there because this colour captivated me.

This is “Grass Roots”

Grass-Roots3

Open-mouthed smile Two coats. Gorgeous, huh? I stamped “Merry Christmas” using Konad image plate M12 and the presents are Bundle Monster plate BM-205. That’s right, I managed to stamp using a Bundle Monster plate without screwing it up Winking smile

Here’s another shot:

Grass-Roots

And another:

Grass-Roots2

Ahhh pretty. I love how the blue of the rainbow pops!

Love it Open-mouthed smile

Custom Polish-One Small Step for Man

This is the last of the custom polishes I made last weekend. I’ve loved wearing them all week and love each and every one of them for different reasons.

This is One Small Step for Man:

OneSmallStep1ctOS

This was the ONLY photo I managed to get outside in the sunlight. All the rest I had to use my lightbox for because it’s been so overcast and gloomy every time I manage to make it outside to take photos!

Anyway, this is just ONE coat! Truly awesome. I love it. It looks so space-y, which is why I called it One Small Step for Man.

This is it in artificial light:

OneSmallStep1ct

Still gorgeous Open-mouthed smile

I’m just going to spam you all with loads of photos of this polish now:

OneSmallStep1ct5

OneSmallStep1ct2

OneSmallStep1ct3

I thought the bottle looked amazing in this photo!

OneSmallStep1ct4

And that’s the last of the custom polishes from last weekend. But don’t worry, I’m sure to make some more soon Winking smile

Custom Polish–Sparkly Vampire

Another attempt at the perfect red holo. Wow, it’s a hard one to create.

Here it is:

SparklyVampire2ct2

It looks a tad on the pink side. Gerrr. Why is it so hard to make a good red holo!? Probably because the silver in the Spectraflair lightens it.

Anyway, this is two coats. I used the Beauty World untinted lacquer base and their two red tints. It’s not as holo as much others, but still pretty gorgeous!

Here’s another shot:

SparklyVampire2ct

I love this photo of the bottle with the holo “border” on it!

Then I tried out another of the images on my Red Angel image plates:

SparklyVampire2c3

These image plates are gold!!! Clean, crisp images every time. Love Open-mouthed smile

Tomorrow I’ll have the last of my new holos for you, the black one, which is as yet unnamed. Stay tuned!

Custom Polish–Mad Scientist

This polish is relatively unobtrusive in the shade. It’s not a bad shade of green:

MadScientist2ctshade

Two coats of my new custom polish, Mad Scientist.

It’s when you step out into the sunlight that it really screams out at you:

MadScientist2ct
RAINBOWS! I SEE RAINBOWWWWWWWS!

I love it. I actually love it. I’m not sure that I’ve actually seen a green holo quite this shade. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong! It’s bright without being too in-your-face. Although, like any holo could be too in-your-face.

And one more for luck:

MadScientist2ct2

This was two coats, by the way. I was going for a darker green but stopped at this colour because I liked it so much.

I am just obsessed with creating my own holo polishes. It is just so easy!

Are you cracking out the Spectraflair and creating your own holos?

Custom Polish–Freakin’ Awesome

Woooooohoooo, the first of my custom polish creations from last night! I wore this today and it had me absolutely drooling. It’s the most holo-y holo I’ve ever made.

Are you ready for this?

Here we go!

FreakinAwesome2ct

Isn’t that just PERFECT?! I cannot believe how strong the holo effect is. It just pops rainbows all over the place! This is two coats.

I took a photo during the creation of this so you could all see:

Pouring

Such a professional work area, right? Winking smile Well, my computer desk is my “lab” for creating polishes so there’s random crap strewn everywhere.

Here’s another gratuitous holo shot:

FreakinAwesome2ct2

Delightful. Just delightful. Although I was aiming for a darker purple, I wouldn’t change this polish for the world!

Here’s a photo of my thumb, which I stamped with my new Red Angel image plates:

Thumb

Wow, what a creepy thumb shot. I never knew I had such ugly thumbs! Anyway, these Red Angel plates are AMAZING! I bought them from Amazon and they got here so quickly. I was worried they were going to be like Bundle Monster, which I struggle with, but they’re not. This was a crisp, clear image which transferred well on my very first try.

YAY! They have so many awesome designs so I’m looking forward to trying them all out.

Next in my series of creations I will have Mad Scientist, a funky bright green holo!

Custom Polishes using Spectraflair

I have something to confess: I have an addiction. My addiction comes in powder form and is purchased by the gram.  I only have 1.5 grams left so I’m going to have to hit up my dealer for some more.

Have you guessed what it is yet?

Iiiiiiit’s Spectraflair! The holographic powder of the gods. I seriously love this stuff.

Last night I whipped up four awesome looking holos:

Holos1

These are unnamed at the moment because I haven’t managed to think of anything decent. I also made half full bottles because I knew I’d never get through a full bottle! Ah, the beauty of making your own polish.

Holos2

I’ve been trying and trying to make that perfect red holo but everything I make turns out slightly pink because of the silver in the Spectraflair. Gerrr! The black holo was a mistake.. I was trying to make green and accidentally poured my BLACK tint into the bottle instead of the blue!!! Ah well, I’m sure I can find a good home for it Winking smile.

Holos3

The green was a bit of an experiment. I was going for a forest green but once I got to this colour I kind of liked it so stopped mixing.

The purple kind of looks like the Unicorn Tears polish I made a while back:

UnicornTears2ct

But it’s a bit more pink, I think. And WAY more holo. Honestly, you should see this baby in the sun. I’m wearing it right now and keep drooling over it. Will post photos tomorrow!!!

So, which polish would you like to see me wear next?

Spectrafranken–Goblin Snot

This is the final Spectrafranken for the week! I just wish it were something a bit better than this Sad smile

This is Goblin Snot:

GoblinSnot2ct

*sigh*. I had such high hopes for this Spectrafranken, but it’s just not as holo as I’d like it to be. It may be better in the sunlight but the past few days here have been very overcast. No sun to be seen!

This is two coats. I might add some more Spectraflair but I’m not sure whether to bother …

Now it is time to send links to all my Spectrafrankens to Cathy at More Nail Polish so that she can continue putting together her mega blog post on Spectrafrankens Open-mouthed smile

Spectrafranken–Unicorn Tears

As per yesterday’s post, I am definitely not sick of holos.

I have another Spectrafranken beauty for you today. This is Unicorn Tears:

UnicornTears2ct

Two coats of deliciousness. This one is just stunning. It is just so pretty and reminds me of something you’d wear to a fairy party. Lurv Open-mouthed smile

Unfortunately this was a bit of an experiment so I don’t have an exact recipe. I was actually trying to make a pale pink holo but it didn’t work out.

I started with my 5mL bottle and poured in NYC Color’s Cotton Candy up to the widest part of the bottle at the top. Then added my usual three tiny straw spoonfuls of Spectraflair. I didn’t like what I saw so I added probably five drops of black. Still didn’t like what I saw. So I added maybe five drops of Ulta3 Gooseberry, a dark, dark purple. That’s when I got to this colour and stopped because I was in awe of the pretty, pretty purple.

I named it Unicorn Tears because it just feels and looks so mythical and magical. I’m a little obsessed with it, can you tell?

I have one more Spectrafranken to share tomorrow: Goblin Snot. Get excited, people!

Spectrafranken–Albino Smurf

Okay, so I’d like to retract my previous statement that I’m getting sick of holo polishes.

Please strike that from the record and take a look at this:

AlbinoSmurf2ct

Oh yeah, I’ve got my Spectra-mojo back. Seriously, I think I was just disappointed in the last two Spectrafrankens I tried (He’s My Lobster and The Legend of Ron Burgundy).

This is two coats of Albino Smurf. It is so freakin’ gorgeous I can’t even stand it. It’s so shiny and metallic and the perfect blue. It’s like a brighter version of 2NITE from the China Glaze OMG! Collection.

I would love to give you the recipe, but this was a bit of a mutant franken. I was trying to make Kristy’s Terrific Teal Franken but I definitely did not end up with the same colour as her. I used my 5mL bottles as usual and poured in BYS Dark Teal up to the widest part of the bottle at the top. I added my usual three tiny straw spoonfuls of Spectraflair, dropped in a ball and shake shake shaked.

Er, not exactly the colour I was looking for?! I added a boatload of Ulta3 Midnight, a black polish, and this is how it turned out. I’m still scratching my head as to how it turned out so different. Maybe I added more Spectraflair? Either way, this colour is stunning.

But I’m still left wanting Terrific Teal Sad smile

Spectrafranken–The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Yet another Spectrafranken Open-mouthed smile I only have three left to try: Albino Smurf, Unicorn Tears and Goblin Snot. So stay tuned for more of these by the end of the week.

This is The Legend of Ron Burgundy (you can thank my partner for that amazing name):

RonBurgundy2ct

Hrmmm … another one that looked better in the bottle then on my nails. And like He’s My Lobster, it took full sunlight to see the rainbow holo goodness.

This is two coats. I have to say again, I really hate the brushes in the bottles I ordered. The shape of the bottles are so cute but I will never buy these bottles again because of how irritating they are to use.

I’m going to have to source another supplier for them. The place which was recommended to me is out of stock of the bottles I like. Boo! Anyone got any ideas?

Anyway, the recipe is easy peasy. 5mL bottle, pour some NYC Color’s Professor Plum up to the widest part of the bottle at the top, add three tiny straw spoonfuls of Spectraflair and shake it all around. Could not be easier! It could have used a bit more Spectraflair.

I hope you’re enjoying the holo goodness. To be honest, I’m ready for a break from the holos. I’m craving some good old fashioned colours. Did I seriously just say that!?

Spectrafranken – He’s My Lobster

This week is Spectrafranken week! Each day I will bring you a new creation of mine using Spectraflair.

Well, I didn’t believe it but what all the bloggers say is true: it is really hard to franken a great red holo. I tried, and I failed.

This Spectrafranken looks way prettier and more holo in the bottle than on my nails:

Lobster2ct

Hrmph. It looks a lot more deep pink than red and that annoys me. Although I put the same amount of Spectraflair in the bottle as my other Spectrafrankens, I didn’t get as much of a holo effect Sad smile Booo!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still pretty, but not what I wanted.

Anyway, I just used NYC Color’s Redhead to make this Spectrafranken. I used my 5mL mini bottles again so I just filled it to the widest part of the bottle at the top and then added three tiny straw spoonfuls of Spectraflair.

Gorgeous in the bottle, as you can see in this post here, but not a true red holo and you have to be out in full sun to see the effect.

Ah well, you win some, you lose some!

Have you successfully made a gorgeous red holo? Want to share the recipe? Smile with tongue out
