NYC Color–Lemon

Alert, alert, problem polish ahead!!! This polish was a pain in the bum to apply and would not even out no matter what I did!
The colour was not good enough to make it worth the trouble!
What is the culprit?

NYC Color’s Lemon:

The photos flatter it, trust me. This was two thick, unmanageable coats. Blurgh. Never again! I’m wondering if this is the same polish as the Ulta3 in their new Gelato collection. I have that one too and it looks very much the same and all the reviews I’ve read say the formula is terrible.

 

I tried to jazz it up a bit but it was just a fail:

I freehanded some french tips with an unnamed Asian bright yellow glitter polish. Looks pretty revolting!

Adelaide Christmas Haul!

I picked up some awesome polishes while in Adelaide over Christmas and New Years. Some were presents, some were ones I bought for myself. Are you ready? Here we go!

BYS

A Drop in the Ocean. I’ve been wanting this blue for ages and finally picked it up. It looks like a gorgeous, gorgeous vibrant blue.

Essence
I have been lusting after Essence glitters ever since I saw them on quite a few Aussie blogs. I picked up the two that appealed to me most:

Blue Addicted and Time for Romance. Jam packed full of glitter. I’m in lurv!

I also got some from the Vampire’s Love collection because they had some pretty unique colours which jumped out at me. Excuse the shocking photo.

The Dawn is Broken, Gold Old Buffy, Into the Dark and True Love. I cannot wait to try Into the Dark, which is a beautiful blue with a silver glitter through it.

Mimco
Do you know, I didn’t even know Mimco made polishes?! B’s mum got these for me as a Chrissie present and I love them.

Russian Red and Nude. I’ve tried the Russian Red on my toes already and it is stunning. It’s a one coater (which stains the cuticle like crazy, mind you!!). I can’t wait to try Nude.

Inglot

203 (flakies, eeee!) and XL7.
I’m a bit mad at myself because I wanted the blue flakie. I picked it up and gave it to the shop assistant and she said they had run out… she showed me XL7 quickly and said “it’s pretty much the same but it’s the same price for a bigger bottle”. I should have clicked that there was no way they were going to be selling the same polish in a bigger bottle for the same price!! XL7 is gorgeous, but it’s definitely not a flakie. Grr. So now my hankering for the blue flakie still remains.

Revlon
$4.95 for a Revlon polish when they are up to $17 in pharmacies – can’t go wrong!


I picked up these three Glimmer Glosses because they looked so perdy. This is Blueberry Burst, Apricot Freeze and Pina Colada Pop. Can’t wait to layer these babies!

Sportsgirl
My sister got these for me for Christmas. I’ve never tried the Sportsgirl polishes before but they look like gorgeous colours!


?? and Lucky Star. I can’t actually see the name of the beautiful dark teal polish because it’s rubbed off the label. Can anyone help me out here?

Ulta3
Ulta3 have released yet another gorgeous collection, their Gelati Collection.
These have to be my absolute favourite Ulta3 colours yet. They are perfect for summer!


Violet Rumble, Kiwi Kaos and Lemon Tart.


Blue Heaven, Strawberry Sundae and Mango Mayhem.
These are all gorgeous colours, what I’d call bright pastels. I can definitely see a skittle mani in the future!

NYC Color
I picked these three polishes up in a service station on our way out of Adelaide on New Years Day. For any non-Aussies, a service station is a gas station/petrol station.
They were 3 for $6 so I jumped at them!


Gold Coin, Bronzed and Copper Penny. So perdy. B picked them out for me and I can’t wait to do some tape manis with these.

How do you like my haul? That will be all the hauling I’ll do for a while now. I have so many polishes to try!!

Recent nail buys

I realised earlier today that I haven’t been sharing most of my nail goodies lately. I’m not sure why, but it’s time to come clean and share what I’ve bought lately!

 

I got these this morning at the chemist here:

A cute little mini set of Revlon polishes. Rock Star, Gold Coin and Ruby. They all look amazing. Ruby is the most vampy, delicious red I’ve ever seen. I’m wondering whether Gold Coin will be good to stamp with … only one way to find out!

 

Another couple of Miki’s. I love these polishes so, so much but unfortunately I’ve gotten all the good colours which are available to me at my local chemist . Miki, please come out with some more colours!!!

These don’t have names, as usual (grrr). So I have taken it upon myself to give them identities. The purple is Fit for a Queen (because Purple is royalty) and the greeny blue is Pacific.

 

Some more NYC Colors:

Blue Sparkle and Sprinkles (my mum surprised me with these when I was in Adelaide last weekend ), Charcoal and Chocolate.

 

Redhead, Gelati, Vintage Pink, Cotton Candy, Pink Cheeks. These are mostly for frankening. The Pink Cheeks is my new favourite french pink though.

 

Konad M30. How. Freakin’. Cute. If you knew me in real life, you’d know straight away why I had to have this plate: the adorable froggy image!!! I have two frogs, Chad and Kroaker (named after Chad Kroeger from Nickelback) and I adore them. I have lots of frog things and I can’t wait to do a froggy mani! The other images are also adorable, although I’m not sure why the dog looks like a Monopoly character and I’m not sure why the rabbit feels the need to advertise what animal it is!?

Anyway, I can definitely see a ladybird mani in the future.

 

I’ve also ordered a bunch of fauxnad image plates from eBay. I’m not sure how good they’ll be but they were cheap so I took the risk!

And just last night I ordered the new Color Club Foiled Collection. I am sooo excited about this collection. The colours are to die for and I’ve heard they’re great for stamping. Can’t wait

NYC Color Bluebird with Konad

I’m loving these NYC Color polishes I got from Woolies when they had their big bin full of them. These polishes were so popular that the bin was almost empty within about three days. I was lucky and got to it not long after they put it out for sale because the bin was piled high when I got to it

 

This is Bluebird:

Two perfect coats. Amazing formula. You cannot go wrong with this. It’s such a lovely bright, pastel blue. My partner hates it, of course, because he hates pastels. Too bad they’re my favourite

 

Aaaand some more ‘Nadding with my new Bundle Monster plates:

BM-208 in the Konad Princess Special Polish in White.

 

I love this on my little nubby nails. I was getting annoyed with how long my nails were getting and I think pastels look way better on nubs, so I chopped them all down. I love it I much prefer having nubs.

NYC Color’s Angel with Konad and rhinestones

What I’m about to show you is the best Konad-ing I’ve ever done. Are you ready? Go!

First I started with three coats of NYC Color’s Angel.

Okay, so this photo sucks. There is a stunning fine gold shimmer through the polish which the camera refuses to pick up.

This was three coats. The first two were streaky but the third evened it out and a coat of SV made it nice and smoooov!

Then I tried a Konad design that I haven’t tried before:

 

I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!! The red Konad Princess Special Polish is amazing. So vibrant and easy to use. I seriously did not smudge one bit and I’m so proud of myself!

I added some flower shaped rhinestones because I got a biiig lot of them in the post on Tuesday.

I’m a bit in love with this mani. I’ve seen the white and red combo heaps but never got around to trying it. I am sooo glad I did! You can also slightly see the gold shimmer in this photo, especially if you click on it and make it biiiig!

I’m so sorry. These are ridiculously bad photos but do you know how hard it is to photograph these shinies succesfully!?

N.Y.C. Color–Red Slippers with Konad

This lovely little number is one of the N.Y.C. Color’s that I bin dived for at our local Woolworths. They never have nail polish bins so I practically wet myself when I saw them.

No, not really. But I was so excited.

My friend from work, Kate, and an old uni friend, Heidi, came over last week one evening to catch up, dip yummy strawberries into chocolate fondue, and have their nails done.

Unfortunately I took a really crappy photo of Heidi’s nails, and I hadn’t snapped a million shots of them like I do with my own. But this is Kate’s mani that she picked for her job interview the next day:

 

Red Slippers, two coats.

This is N.Y.C. Color’s version of Ruby Pumps, I think. It looks very similar in the bottle, just with less red glitter and more gold glitter, but the prettiness isn’t strong enough to show through the Konad-ing. I love this Konad design! You may remember it from a recent post, and I was happy to do it again because it’s so funky.

Kate loved her nails, and I hope they gave her a little confidence boost for her scary interview!

Do you like doing your friend’s nails or just your own? I love doing other people’s nails but I’m not nearly as good at it as I am with my own!

Adelaide haul

So it’s time to come clean about just how much I bought in Adelaide.

I had some amazing finds which I did not expect. But I’ll save the best for last

 

Dermalogica

Their new Clean Start starter kit. I’m already so impressed with this! The face wash smells amazing and the “Bedtime for Breakouts” gel is awesome.

 

The lovely lady at the chemists was awesome enough to give me plenty of samples of moisturisers, scrubs and pimple cream. Love samples

 

Seacret

Body Care Kit. This has a huge tub of salt scrub, hand cream and foot cream plus a loofah. This stuff is amazing. The scrub leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft and it is so good for your hands. When you apply the hand cream after you scrub, your hands feel absolutely beautiful and new. This wasn’t cheap, but it will last a long time and in my opinion, it is so worth it! My partners hands have never been so soft!

 

Jungle Brolly Hand Shield and Lucas’ Papaw Ointment.

I’ve heard great things about the Hand Shield, so I really wanted to try it. Haven’t quite got around to it yet but I will let you guys know when I do! You can never have too many tubes of Papaw Ointment. It’s my go-to cuticle balm at the moment and it’s helping my dry, angry cuticles so much. I keep one in my handbag and apply it at work every time I come back from the ladies’. The awesome thing about it is that it’s a cuticle balm and lip balm in one!

 

Manicare

French Manicure kit! I’ve been wanting some good french mani colours for a while and have heard that these are good. The buffer and rubber cuticle stick are a bonus too! You only get 10 nail guides which is a bit of a rip off, but luckily I have plenty already.

Rokk96

I’ll Be Frank, Silver Screen and Paris Night.

How gorgeous are these!? I’ll Be Frank is totally unique; look at the gorgeous gold shimmer! The Silver Screen is really a very light bluey silver and is stunning. I cannot wait to try these!

They were three for $19 at Price Attack, or $7.95 each. Stunning! Mum told me to check these out and I am so glad I did!

 

And now, last but certainly not least:

China Glaze OMG/Kaleidescope Collections

DV8, 2NITE x2 (although one looks more purple than the other and that’s not just in the photo?! I’m going to have to try them both!), QT and Kaleidescope Him Out.

These were such a random, amazing find. My partner was getting his hair cut and I was wandering around the little shopping centre that his hairdressers are in. I spotted this little Asian nail salon and contemplated going in and though “nah, can’t be bothered” but then something propelled my lil legs towards the store and I found myself looking at a cabinet of tester China Glazes. I spotted the holos straight away, freaked out and promptly asked one of the shop assistants if they sold the polishes. The answer: YES! I initially just bought the 2NITE and Kaleidescope Him Out but when I showed them to my partner he asked if I had enquired if they had any more stock. Bless his heart! We raced back to the nail salon and I spotted the other colours that I had missed. They only had one double (the 2NITE) but I scored the DV8 and QT as well. I am sooooo excited I have been wanting these for SO LONG!
I’m going to try out both 2NITEs and if they are the same, sell one off. But I have no idea how much to sell it for?  Any ideas?

 

After my China Glaze buys, I declared myself on a no buy until I had tried  most of my untrieds.

That lasted until the next night when I went to Woolworths up here where I live and spotted the brand new bin of NYC polishes for $2 each.

I agonised over whether to buy any and my partner tormented me by suggesting to buy some of the colours. Finally my lovely, amazing, wonderful partner gave me $10 and told me to go nuts. He offered $20 but I couldn’t find that many colours I liked.

I ended up with these babies:

Red Slippers (looks like a Ruby Pumps wannabe but has gold glitter), Angel (is not just straight white, has a gorgeous pearly glitter through it), Lemon, Peachy Keen and Lavender.

 

Aaaand now I think I’m done buying for a while. I currently have 46 untried nail polishes. 46!!!!!! One of those polishes in the photo below is the top coat for the french manicure set I mentioned above, so it doesn’t count!

 

 

So there you have it, my Adelaide haul. I did buy a few other things like shoes, socks and undies, but nothing as exciting as these finds!
