Miki Rainclouds with OPI Turquoise Shatter

Hello everyone!!!

I'm back from my Christmas/New Years holiday in Adelaide. I had such a great time but I'm so glad to be home. I spent way too much money, of course, but it was worth it ;)

Anyway, here's a mani I did before Christmas.

This is an unnamed Miki polish which I have dubbed "Rainclouds":

Rainclouds1ct

Such a gorgeous colour. This would be perfect for Winter! I can't remember if this was one or two coats, but I think it was one. Fantastic formula, like the other Miki's I've tried. I keep getting more and more impressed with these polsihes!

I decided to try an OPI Shatter polish for the first time. I've used other crackles and shatters, but this was my first OPI.

TurquoiseShatter
This is their Turquoise Shatter.  I buggered it up a bit because I painted it on too thick on some nails. I wasn't really a fan of this colour combo because you couldn't see the grey very well through it. Definitely need a more obvious base colour.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great holiday season. Welcome to 2012!

Miki–Ocean Spray

This is a bit of a meh mani. In my head it turned out a lot better than this. I think the problem is that I don’t actually like the base colour that much. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty, but it’s nothing special.

This is an unnamed Miki polish which I have dubbed “Ocean Spray”:

Two coats. See what I mean? Meh! Nothing special. I tried to perk it up a bit with some silver dotties using Sally Hansen’s Celeb City, but it didn’t work!

Had any fail manis lately?

Miki Fit for a Queen

As you can tell, I’ve really been feelin’ the purple polish lately. I’m not sure what it is, but I’m so drawn to purple at the moment. I’m loving beautiful deep, bright pinks too.

If you haven’t gone to your local chemist and raided the Miki polish tubs (usually sitting on a shelf or on the counter), I suggest you get on it straight away.

Behold, an unnamed purple Miki which I have dubbed “Fit for a Queen”:

FitforaQueen2ct

Isn’t she a beauty? Honestly, these $2.50 polishes apply like a dream and they have amazing wear too. I really can’t fault them.

I wore this for two days and I didn’t have any chips, dents or tip wear.

I added some cute Konad because my nails felt naked (and, okay, I’m obsessed):

FitforaQueen2ctKonad

So, so perdy. I loved this mani. It felt really dainty to me and it was so easy to do. I think my favourite Konad polish is the White Princess Special Polish. It just seems thicker than all the rest and stands out on most base colours.

What do you think?

Recent nail buys

I realised earlier today that I haven’t been sharing most of my nail goodies lately. I’m not sure why, but it’s time to come clean and share what I’ve bought lately!

I got these this morning at the chemist here:

Minis

A cute little mini set of Revlon polishes. Rock Star, Gold Coin and Ruby. They all look amazing. Ruby is the most vampy, delicious red I’ve ever seen. I’m wondering whether Gold Coin will be good to stamp with … only one way to find out!

Another couple of Miki’s. I love these polishes so, so much but unfortunately I’ve gotten all the good colours which are available to me at my local chemist Sad smile. Miki, please come out with some more colours!!!

Miki3

These don’t have names, as usual (grrr). So I have taken it upon myself to give them identities. The purple is Fit for a Queen (because Purple is royalty) and the greeny blue is Pacific.

Some more NYC Colors:

nyc2

Blue Sparkle and Sprinkles (my mum surprised me with these when I was in Adelaide last weekend Open-mouthed smile), Charcoal and Chocolate.

NYC3
Redhead, Gelati, Vintage Pink, Cotton Candy, Pink Cheeks. These are mostly for frankening. The Pink Cheeks is my new favourite french pink though.

m30

Konad M30. How. Freakin’. Cute. If you knew me in real life, you’d know straight away why I had to have this plate: the adorable froggy image!!! I have two frogs, Chad and Kroaker (named after Chad Kroeger from Nickelback) and I adore them. I have lots of frog things and I can’t wait to do a froggy mani! The other images are also adorable, although I’m not sure why the dog looks like a Monopoly character and I’m not sure why the rabbit feels the need to advertise what animal it is!?

Anyway, I can definitely see a ladybird mani in the future.

I’ve also ordered a bunch of fauxnad image plates from eBay. I’m not sure how good they’ll be but they were cheap so I took the risk!

And just last night I ordered the new Color Club Foiled Collection. I am sooo excited about this collection. The colours are to die for and I’ve heard they’re great for stamping. Can’t wait Open-mouthed smile

What have you bought recently?

Miki Spring Sky with Konad heart french tips and glitter

Excuse me while I wipe up the drool from my keyboard.

SpringSky3coats

I love it, I love it, I love it!!!! Such a beautiful, happy colour. I’ve named this Miki mini “Spring Sky” because that’s exactly what it looks like.

This colour will definitely be featuring on my toesies once the weather warms up! Who knows when that will be though. We had some really warm days here over the past few weeks but the past two days have been raining solidly from about 4:30 in the afternoon. I have washing on the line outside that I keep hoping will dry … but I don’t think it’s going to happen Smile with tongue out

Anyway, I digress (as usual).

I’ve been wanting to try out Konad french tips for a while and I’ve also desperately been wanting to try my Konad Princess Special Polish in Blue Pearl. It is a stunning colour but obviously it doesn’t go with just any nail polish.

But it does go with Spring Sky!

SpringSkywKonad

Cute, right? My hearts are a little smudged because I had to use crappy non-acetone with Vitamin E nail polish remover Sad smile I ran out of my good stuff and tried to go to the shops to buy some more only to walk outside and find my partner’s ute parked behind my little beep beep Barina and the keys conveniently in his pocket with him at work. So I had to settle for the crappy remover and you’re not supposed to use remover with any moisturisers or other stuff added to it because it leaves a residue on the plate.

Meh, still looked pretty!

I topped it with the Konad Princess Special Glitter Top Coat. I LOVE this top coat. It gives the illusion of a sprinkling of fairy dust. I am so glad I got this in my kit because I never imagined it to be so beautiful.

Have you tried the Miki polishes? Are you as impressed as I am?

Miki Fire in Her Eyes

Another one of my new mini Mikis. Also unnamed but I have dubbed this one “Fire in Her Eyes”. You like?

Red2coats

Ehhh. Nice colour but I’ve seen it before. The bottle has a beautiful gold shimmer through it which just doesn’t translate onto the nail Sad smile Disappointing Sad smile

However, like the other Miki’s I’ve tried, the application was beautiful and it was perfect in two coats. Love Open-mouthed smile

Do you have too many colours like this like I do?

Miki Faded Frog

By the time this posts, I will be on my way to Adelaide – wheee! I can’t believe it’s been almost four months since I’ve been back to Adelaide. Four months without decent shops, decent fruit and veg, decent meat. Our freezer rations of decent meat diminished long ago and I’m looking forward to restocking. Oh, and I’m looking forward to doing a little nail polish shopping Winking smile No Buy August whaaat?

This is the first of the Miki mini polishes I bought the other day. At two for $5, how could I resist!?

Miki don’t name their polishes (grrr) so I have named this one “Faded Frog”.

Mint2coats

What a beauty!!! Two coats of gorgeousness. I have never had a pastel apply so beautifully, usually I have so much trouble with streaking, bald spots and having to put a million coats on and it then being too thick to dry. But this was so, so beautiful.

Such a gorgeous, delicate and Spring-ish colour.

But don’t mind the hangnail Winking smile

Friday mail day + Miki goodies

Wheeee! Friday was mail day. Love it Open-mouthed smile

But on Thursday I was getting impatient waiting for my China Glaze, Color Club, OPI, Essie, SpaRitual, Nubar and BYS polishes to arrive. Sooo I strolled down to the chemist and what did I see?

Miki1

Cute little mini Miki’s!

They do not have names so I shall name them! The left polish is actually a beautiful dark green with a gold shimmer through it, so I’ve named it Forever Green. The red also has a gorgeous gold shimmer and I called it Fire in Her Eyes.

Miki2

This Little Piggy, Rainclouds, Spring Sky, Faded Frog.

Two for $5!!! Tell me, does that count for breaking my No Buy August? Smile with tongue out

These just screamed out at me… such pretty, spring colours! Do you like my names for them? Smile with tongue out

So first up in my Friday mail was a bottle of Seche Restore:

restore

Waaay back in June I ordered some off ebay. The seller never sent it, I had to lodge a dispute through PayPal (thank God for PayPal!!!) and I eventually got my money back. I had to reorder it from somewhere else and I finally have it! Yay Open-mouthed smile I have a few polishes I want to thin and my SV bottle is almost at the stage where I need to thin it.

SV_MM

Backups of SV (you can never have too many Smile with tongue out) and China Glaze Matte Magic top coat (awesome photo, Emma, face the label AWAY from people Smile with tongue out)

Hopefully my COLOUR polish hauls will be here soon!!
