I had good intentions to keep blogging regularly but then something threw a spanner in the works: I got hand, foot and mouth disease. For anyone who has had this, you are probably cringing right now. HFM is easily the worst sickness I’ve ever had. It started out one Tuesday after a public holiday. I felt tired and achey and had a sore throat. By lunch time I was struggling so I went home. I tried to sleep but I couldn’t get warm. I ended up having to go steal my partner’s warmth because he was on night shift. I didn’t feel too bad after I woke up that afternoon so I was lulled into a false sense of security. That night I woke up every half hour to an hour either freezing cold or boiling hot. It was awful! I barely slept! The next day I went to the doctor’s who said I had “a virus”. Soon after that I started developing spots on my hands. By late that afternoon my hands were covered in large, angry red bumps. I barely slept that night because they were so itchy. The next day I went to the doctor’s again and showed him. I also showed him the ulcers that developed on the roof of my mouth. He said I had “an infection”. I knew he was wrong. From everything I’d read, I knew I had hand, foot and mouth disease. I also knew it was going around the small town I lived in and I work in a hospital soooooo… you do the math!!</p> <p> </p> <p>Spots started popping up on my feet too, and my hands got so sore that I couldn’t even hold my toothbrush to brush my teeth. I couldn’t stand washing my hands. I couldn’t do anything!! The next day I tried to take a shower and my feet were so painful that I physically couldn’t stand on them while I tried to shower! I had to turn the taps on using a towel and it still hurt!! I lasted about 30 seconds in the shower and then gave up and left the shower half running because I couldn’t turn it off properly. I went back to bed for the day. I also got weird crusties around my nose which were painful, red and weeping. Over the next few days the pain got less and less and the rash started disappearing, apart from my poor nose. A week later, it was almost gone. “Great!”, I thought, “The worst is over!”.</p> <p> </p> <p>WRONG! That’s when the peeling started. Oh, the peeling. Over the next week my skin peeled way too many layers off. The poor, new skin underneath was raw. It peeled right under the free edge of my nail and right up close to the sides of my nail bed. This was big, thick chunks (sorry!). It <em>hurt</em> and I looked like a leper. I was so self conscious of it and everyone asked me what was wrong with my skin. Everyone just assumed I had dermatitis. If that’s what dermatitis is like, I never want to experience it. </p> <p> </p> <p>Anyway, it’s over two months later now and I’m still suffering from the lasting effects of HFM. My nails have peeled from the cuticle down towards the free edge. They form a white bubble on the surface of the nail first and then it starts peeling. It is revolting. It could be a lot worse – the whole nail could have lifted! But for someone who is so precious about their nails, it’s fairly cruel.</p> <p>The whole point of this story was to explain why I am so delayed in sharing these beautiful polishes from <a href="http://www.femmefatalecosmetics.com.au" target="_blank">Femme Fatale Cosmetics</a>. I actually took these photos when I still had the remnants of the rash but it wasn’t sore anymore. Thanks to some strategic lighting and cropping, you can’t really see the rash. I’ve got loads of pics though, if anyone is interested <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-n3TJDtd4Ej4/U_gKwQWs4lI/AAAAAAAAEXY/E7WbKADL3YU/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Cirque Powwow</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-l8KfQGqFY7I/U_gKyIgWoEI/AAAAAAAAEXg/HYBoYa-q0p0/s1600-h/Powwow%25255B19%25255D.jpg"><img title="Powwow" style="display: inline" alt="Powwow" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Pt9HwqoyVxU/U_gKzOhCulI/AAAAAAAAEXo/XqiwymKtvJ0/Powwow_thumb%25255B16%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="279" height="453"></a></p> <p>This is such a stunning Barbie pink holo with an added bonus of purple micro flakies. It is gorgeous! This was two easy coats and it lasted and lasted on my nails!</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Liquid Sky Lacquer Spring Showers</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-sVLdrvpovKk/U_gK0N-GnaI/AAAAAAAAEXw/2q1CVPtShQQ/s1600-h/SpringShower%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img title="SpringShower" style="display: inline" alt="SpringShower" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-QeGnod5eXZs/U_gK1DAJtAI/AAAAAAAAEX0/th1tiPUvn-8/SpringShower_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="333" height="434"></a></p> <p>In the interest of full disclosure and honesty, this polish wasn’t for me <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-sadsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Sad smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-OvFpf-uqdWI/U_gK1nd3aaI/AAAAAAAAEX8/1w8wK9pmM6g/wlEmoticon-sadsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> It was really, really sheer. This was four coats and I still had VNL. It’s supposed to be a thermal but I always have issues getting thermals to change colour. Maybe it’s because I’m so hot blooded <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-n3TJDtd4Ej4/U_gKwQWs4lI/AAAAAAAAEXY/E7WbKADL3YU/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> It has a pretty, delicate pale blue, almost silver base. I think it would be great layered over a pale blue or even white, but I’m not really a layering kinda gal!</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Rainbow Honey Ultimate Weapon</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-tv-CtPZ9NrM/U_gK22g29GI/AAAAAAAAEYI/Te0vw3isqaM/s1600-h/UltimateWeapon%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img title="UltimateWeapon" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="UltimateWeapon" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-QmxYKcgVSt4/U_gK3-HrkKI/AAAAAAAAEYQ/u-EjwWvbosU/UltimateWeapon_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="327" height="384"></a></p> <p>Oooohh this is bootiful! Such a deep, shimmery, shifty polish. A gorgeous deep blue/purple base with purple and blue shimmers. This was almost a one coater! Such easy application and so striking on the nail. I just loved this one.</p> <p> </p> <p>Hope you enjoyed my babbling story about HFM and the pretty pics <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-n3TJDtd4Ej4/U_gKwQWs4lI/AAAAAAAAEXY/E7WbKADL3YU/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"><br><br>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-83878830515495014682014-04-21T16:06:00.000+09:302014-04-21T16:07:07.610+09:30Huge destash!<p>Hiya all, </p> <p>How are you all? A beautiful red crelly. This is too squishy to be simply a creme! As you can see, it leans very orange on me but I don’t mind it. It flattered my skin tone! </p> <p>Because it was a crelly I needed three coats for full coverage but it had a great formula. So gorgeous!</p> <p> </p> <p>Next up is Seashells:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-NQNhwZsJPko/U0pftHuX0bI/AAAAAAAAEVM/byJ6lR6Jacw/s1600-h/Seashells%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="Seashells" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Seashells" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mJBJ4M9eDzk/U0pfuFpZoCI/AAAAAAAAEVU/MNAb_CjRt9w/Seashells_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="414"></a></p> <p>A perfect nude creme! I loooove this. It’s hard to find a good nude and everyone’s skin tone is different so we all suit different shades of creme. This is definitely a shade that flatters my skin tone. I love it! This was two easy coats.</p> <p> </p> <p>Aaaand, the two I bought:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Vmyh5GV2Klg/U0pfu9ZO8jI/AAAAAAAAEVc/HXwiO7_eAZE/s1600-h/CodePurple_SeaDayze2%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img title="CodePurple_SeaDayze2" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="CodePurple_SeaDayze2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zwOGD7Cc5mM/U0pfvnXrQ8I/AAAAAAAAEVg/AlhtU8ro0bg/CodePurple_SeaDayze2_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="299" height="450"></a></p> <p>Sea Dayze and Code Purple. Such gorgeous, vibrant cremes. I loooove these. They go so well together so I had to wear them both at once. This is my current favourite way to wear a couple of shades if I can’t choose which ones to try first. </p> <p>Two easy coats of each. </p> <p>I added some stamping to jazz it up a little:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-EVCclg7VGTw/U0pfwoy1OZI/AAAAAAAAEVs/OXMoxe5kYls/s1600-h/CodePurple_SeaDayze3%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="CodePurple_SeaDayze3" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="CodePurple_SeaDayze3" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-s4CqmvCtq58/U0pfxmkOswI/AAAAAAAAEV0/C4jZPGJuJMw/CodePurple_SeaDayze3_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="298" height="420"></a></p> <p>Love this <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4WMyn7rYz2s/U0pfyU2EvXI/AAAAAAAAEV8/v6hRX4mQ1IQ/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> </p> <p> </p> <p>Aaand one more shot just because I liked it:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-VMBu2Nfvz_k/U0pfzO_zMfI/AAAAAAAAEWE/znf_lJNet7g/s1600-h/CodePurple_SeaDayze%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="CodePurple_SeaDayze" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="CodePurple_SeaDayze" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-La8L283HK2o/U0pfzyQg2uI/AAAAAAAAEWM/AniwOGDHJzo/CodePurple_SeaDayze_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="299" height="198"></a></p> <p> </p> <p>Have you bought any Sea Sirens yet? </p> <p>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-1883928121278702372014-04-13T19:03:00.000+09:302014-04-13T19:12:22.307+09:30Ulta3 goodies<p>I’ve been absolutely loving nail stamping lately. Well, more so than usual <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-p7919cgiInE/U0pbzdnnJfI/AAAAAAAAETI/w20DAE-kIp4/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> Everyone knows it’s my favourite form of nail art! Stamping never fails to wow people and have them asking how I did it. I then go into an explanation of stamping and how awesome it is and people just stare at me like I’m from another planet. Don’t get me wrong, they’re impressed, but I know a lot of people can’t fathom spending so much time and effort on nails. To me, and most other nail addicts, nails is a form of therapy. If I go more than a few days without painting my nails, I get craaaaanky.</p> <p> </p> <p>Anyway, I got some more goodies from <a href="http://www.heatgroup.com.au/" target="_blank">The Heat Group</a> to play with. More Ulta3s – YIPPEEEE <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-0vL9YXcIWZ4/U0pb0AV_CiI/AAAAAAAAETQ/_GYkYpWkd78/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> </p> <p> </p> <p>This is Footloose Fuschia:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-8D1mqsOdi0E/U0pb07WDTaI/AAAAAAAAETY/-YIEgDGh7YU/s1600-h/FootlooseFuschia%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="FootlooseFuschia" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="FootlooseFuschia" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-p0oW2G4x1ug/U0pb1rz7xjI/AAAAAAAAETg/F35ZvZrEhCA/FootlooseFuschia_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="269" height="323"></a></p> <p>A perfect, glossy fuschia creme. This is one of their older colours and I luuuuurv it. It’s such a vibrant pink. Formula was absolutely perfect and it was very nearly a one coater! I did two for good measure.</p> <p> </p> <p>I added some Bundle Monster stamping for good measure:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-YlJNbtSi6VE/U0pb2aT2tuI/AAAAAAAAETo/P_5Otq1Zeh4/s1600-h/FootlooseFuschiastamp%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img title="FootlooseFuschiastamp" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="FootlooseFuschiastamp" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wok-ltluLGo/U0pb3FcjvhI/AAAAAAAAETw/KDl8fU5Fd1k/FootlooseFuschiastamp_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="265" height="381"></a></p> <p>Splatters! I used the Konad Special Polish in Pastel Pink. I am a huuuuge fan of the Konad pastels. They stamp so well and I love the single colour contrast of it over a darker shade!</p> <p> </p> <p>Here we have Sizzling Red:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-PjyrKsZQn4Q/U0pb4Jzl-5I/AAAAAAAAET4/16PIu7JOW68/s1600-h/sizzlingred%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="sizzlingred" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="sizzlingred" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-lpG1YzhSOeg/U0pb47gU4YI/AAAAAAAAEUA/u2ey3rXq--Y/sizzlingred_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="265" height="374"></a><br>Yeeoooow! What a sexy shade! I love a good red creme and this one didn’t disappoint. This too was almost a one coater with a perfect formula but I did two coats as per my usual routine. I didn’t want to cover this beautiful shade but my partner <em>loathes</em> red nail polish (he calls every single red “Wh*re Red”) so I had to do <em>something</em> to try and redeem it in his eyes. Enter, stamping!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MuFM2dVxeK0/U0pb5-DFNrI/AAAAAAAAEUI/U_dot3FaP0U/s1600-h/sizzlingred_stamp%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img title="sizzlingred_stamp" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="sizzlingred_stamp" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2fKL4Ql0Fw4/U0pb6-bmZAI/AAAAAAAAEUQ/LPbewAKLrhI/sizzlingred_stamp_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="265" height="388"></a></p> <p>Booyah! I looove this! I can’t remember which plate this was but I looove it. My partner actually really liked it too so that means it’s definitely a winner <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-p7919cgiInE/U0pbzdnnJfI/AAAAAAAAETI/w20DAE-kIp4/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>And last but certainly not least:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-wr4H4klXHPw/U0pb8IBOogI/AAAAAAAAEUY/X9i4ncZlg_U/s1600-h/striking_getteal_alister%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="striking_getteal_alister" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="striking_getteal_alister" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-X4VWsFs0ur8/U0pb85YRp5I/AAAAAAAAEUg/-zJDuZ5L5AI/striking_getteal_alister_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="267" height="374"></a></p> <p>A mix n’ match mani with Striking on the pointer and middle fingers and Get Teal on the ring and pinkie fingers with a coat of A Lister on top. Two coats of Striking (although you can see I probably need a third because I have a liiiitle bit of VNL), two coats of Get Teal (which only needed one) and one coat of A Lister. Striking and Get Teal are two of my favourite Ulta3 polishes. Striking packs so much ultra fine glitter and shimmer into it but it remains sooooo smooth. It doesn’t even NEED a top coat! Get Teal is the perfect shade of deep teal and it glides onto the nail. I loved this colour combo!</p> <p>Here’s another shot to show the glitter properly:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mRrWMP8-zXM/U0pb9pcX4uI/AAAAAAAAEUo/Z_3sdETB_24/s1600-h/striking_getteal_alister2%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="striking_getteal_alister2" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="striking_getteal_alister2" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-eAnq8k8LACg/U0pb-pe43EI/AAAAAAAAEUw/zzKfVF6U2pM/striking_getteal_alister2_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="267" height="361"></a></p> <p> </p> <p>What’s your favourite Ulta3?</p> <p> </p> <p>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-2025432456350863142014-03-26T19:25:00.000+10:302014-03-26T19:26:05.467+10:30Winner of the Mont Bleu competitionHello all!<br /><br />I'm pleased to announce the winner of the Mont Bleu competition - Sarah Claire!!!<br />

Aussie nail fanatics are very familiar with these $2 bargains. Ulta3 is awesome quality polish for a fraction of the price of most others. Ulta3 has been awesome at keeping up with the latest trends and have come out with some really cool polishes lately. </p> <p> </p> <p>Here is a shade from their recent pastels collection, Corsican rose:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-QTtVb9YV-Xs/UyayTP9JL-I/AAAAAAAAERE/9q_zL6q-6V4/s1600-h/CorsicanRose%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img title="CorsicanRose" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="CorsicanRose" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-3PLBqAtwO5w/UyayUHf-dJI/AAAAAAAAERM/JfrUtgTGu2g/CorsicanRose_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="285" height="380"></a></p> <p>Gorgeous, right? This is a dusty mint green. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that I LOVE cremes and I LOVE pastels. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a good creme and pastels are perfect for the warmer weather. It also helps that it flatters my skin tone like nothing else and makes my nails look twice as long as they are <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-pzAV-KSRWWE/UyayVrdBPWI/AAAAAAAAERU/jTKT64BVwWk/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p>This was two easy coats of a great formula. Pastels can be notoriously difficult to apply but this was an exception. I do have a lot of shades like this but in my opinion, you can’t have enough of them <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-pzAV-KSRWWE/UyayVrdBPWI/AAAAAAAAERU/jTKT64BVwWk/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>This is one of Ulta3’s oldest and most common shades, Lollypop Lilac:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-jySw1nq5UJ0/UyayWnjXd9I/AAAAAAAAERc/LYVBykLlUCc/s1600-h/Lollipoplilac%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="Lollipoplilac" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Lollipoplilac" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-G5N6zcsLtkI/UyayXjvoTNI/AAAAAAAAERk/rzWudut1ILY/Lollipoplilac_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="286" height="414"></a></p> <p>It’s a glitzy foil which is more of a dusty purple than a lilac. Talk about bling bling! This was two coats but it would easily be a one coater. </p> <p> </p> <p>I did some weird nail art with it:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4vIz4uMcJPo/UyayY_SGbLI/AAAAAAAAERs/3C5qBEb_PX4/s1600-h/Sweetornude_lollypoplilac%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="Sweetornude_lollypoplilac" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Sweetornude_lollypoplilac" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-HbdnrmVCioE/UyayZpU1DBI/AAAAAAAAER0/bzGiQSRpeYA/Sweetornude_lollypoplilac_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="287" height="378"></a></p> <p>I used Essence Sweet Or Nude? for the base colour, which I liked a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a shimmery pale pink which is a touch frosty but not too much. Two coats. Then I dotted some random Lollypop Lilac dots on it. I’d say it’s a bit of a fail but oh well, I gave it a go <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-pzAV-KSRWWE/UyayVrdBPWI/AAAAAAAAERU/jTKT64BVwWk/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>Have you got either of these bargain pretties?<br>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-91427269899385348152014-03-17T18:44:00.000+10:302014-04-02T17:37:49.108+10:30Essence spam!Hi there my pretties!<br />
Today I have some Essence polishes to share with you. Sarah from <a href="http://www.heatgroup.com.au/" target="_blank">The Heat Group</a> was kind enough to send me some polishes to review, so here is the first instalment. <br />
<br />
<strong>Metal Glams</strong><br />
This is from the BRAND NEW collection, Metal Glam:<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5Ahis6mrHrY/Uyav88PzP8I/AAAAAAAAEQQ/eSilJ2ODPvI/s1600-h/Petaltothemetal%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Petaltothemetal" border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-923mfN-Ng9k/Uyav_Qa7qVI/AAAAAAAAEQY/SrOYxCvyXko/Petaltothemetal_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="344" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Petaltothemetal" width="336" /></a><br />
Petal to the Metal. I actually liked this polish a lot more than I thought I would! It’s a pretty, delicate pink-toned lilac. It went on quite smoothly with not too many brush strokes. This was two coats but it was almost a one-coater! Almost unheard of for such a light shade. This would be fantastic to use for stamping, I think.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nYWhab4vndo/UyawBGpjwJI/AAAAAAAAEQc/aNqpAWsJhF4/s1600-h/Steel-ingthescene%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Steel-ingthescene" border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-VNAOB4KjSDo/UyawCQc7tQI/AAAAAAAAEQo/HoP_Hmiro8o/Steel-ingthescene_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="440" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Steel-ingthescene" width="337" /></a><br />
Steel-ing the Scene. Not going to lie, this isn’t really my kind of colour, but I didn’t mind this. It wasn’t a brassy bronze so it went a lot better with my skin tone than most bronzes. This one was streakier than Petal to the Metal but still not too bad. I wasn’t too careful when applying it so I think you could get a lot less brush strokes than I did.<br />
<br />
This is one of Essence’s core collection, Red Ahead:<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-lSsNLXkZ0Ms/UyawDptuu0I/AAAAAAAAEQw/Rm2pF5y_Spc/s1600-h/RedAhead%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img alt="RedAhead" border="0" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-dI456Di7w58/UyawEm__XcI/AAAAAAAAEQ4/vPlvhzLuAcU/RedAhead_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="398" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="RedAhead" width="337" /></a><br />
Er. It’s brown. I didn’t realise it was meant to be red until I read the label! To me, it’s a beautiful chocolate brown creme. I love it! Browns are one of my favourites (even though a lot of people don’t like them) and this will be perfect for winter. I’m really unsure as to where the ‘red’ in the name comes from, but I don’t mind as I’m chuffed it’s a brown instead! This was two easy coats.<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoyed the Essence spam! I’ll be back tomorrow with some Ulta3 spam!<br />

I’ve had computer problems and they were finally fixed today so I have my precious computer back *strokes*.</p> <p> </p> <p>Today I have for you the new pretties from <a href="http://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">Sea Siren Cosmetics</a>, a new Aussie indie. It’s a collection of four glitter toppers, the All That Glitters part, and four shimmers, the All That Shimmers collection!</p> <p>And away we go, maties!</p> <p> </p> <p>I’ve layered a glitter over the shimmer that I feel best corresponds with it. But there are endless possibilities here <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-kMEMQ4jWZ1w/UxGw4jd4j4I/AAAAAAAAEN8/HkWY7oxcTSE/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Bronzed Siren and Seaduce</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-gBuMQlyreQo/UxGw6EjA10I/AAAAAAAAEOE/B46kCVqGUEA/s1600-h/BronzedSiren%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-xVJY1NVdmIo/UxGw8oo_xzI/AAAAAAAAEOM/e14AoO7Ntx0/BronzedSiren_thumb%25255B13%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="349" height="400"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-LwTS5Xug6Bw/UxGw-L3x8SI/AAAAAAAAEOU/fTPdJiG_P00/s1600-h/BronzedSiren_Seaduce%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-72gQTAIc_7k/UxGxAF7YPCI/AAAAAAAAEOc/Y-d-abpV1sY/BronzedSiren_Seaduce_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="350" height="438"></a></p> <p>This is two coats of Bronzed Siren with a coat of Seaduce on top. The formula of Bronzed Siren was good but I found it quite brush strokey and more frosty than shimmery. It’s not really a shade I’d usually wear but I’m sure it would appeal to a lot of girls who want a bit of metallic bling on their nails! I layered Seaduce on top and had no trouble getting any glitters out, including the big silver holo diamonds which you can see a lot of on my middle and little fingernails.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Seas the Day and SeaQuake</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-0D2uJae7ZII/UxGxBbZhuiI/AAAAAAAAEOg/7pBjTIwLMTw/s1600-h/SeastheDay%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-g6HFcNVvUR0/UxGxCrcV_bI/AAAAAAAAEOs/0byxP2ucr80/SeastheDay_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="353" height="390"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9hBJkUVX3dw/UxGxD2wjKrI/AAAAAAAAEO0/3DCqWGJEpyY/s1600-h/SeastheDay_SeaQuake%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ngYJ-G2pOow/UxGxEwnf2zI/AAAAAAAAEO4/fgskL6GxBCk/SeastheDay_SeaQuake_thumb%25255B11%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="353" height="421"></a></p> <p>First of all, don’t mind my ring finger. I bumped it and didn’t realise it was that bad until I looked at the photos over a week later. </p> <p>This was two coats of Seas the Day which is a really pretty pink-toned purple shimmer. It is inspired by the Pantone Colour for 2014, Orchid, and it is absolutely spot on in that regard. It’s quite a glowy purple with a lot of depth.</p> <p>I layered a coat of SeaQuake over it. I’d heard reports of curling in some of the larger glitters but I didn’t experience any difficulty applying it. Looking at my photos, there’s quite a lot of reflective curling happening but I didn’t have any problems applying it!</p> <p> </p> <p>Okay NOW we’re getting to my favourites.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Temptress and Enchanted</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1GPCJb_9VyQ/UxGxFmiw8XI/AAAAAAAAEPE/RYJoIwwKlDw/s1600-h/Temptress%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4fam3wmnRiE/UxGxGu9A--I/AAAAAAAAEPM/ux0BhtlJGPw/Temptress_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="329" height="347"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-t5uqyzWUtow/UxGxHgnc5lI/AAAAAAAAEPU/ELGzvbPR6Ek/s1600-h/Temptress_Enchanted%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-PdohAluaiKs/UxGxIoWxU5I/AAAAAAAAEPc/FtJV1x3c4NM/Temptress_Enchanted_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="333" height="395"></a></p> <p>Um, HELLO gorgeous glowy red with a golden shimmer. This is stunning! I did three coats because I had some pesky nail line showing through, but the formula was great. I am a huge fan of reds but I am really, really picky with them. This one passes the test with flying colours. Formula was great!</p> <p>I added a coat of Enchanted, a simple gold and black glitter topper which kind of reminds me of a bumblebee! I think I needed a second coat because it just doesn’t look right to me.</p> <p> </p> <p>And now, drumroll please …. my favourite of the collection!</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Jealosea and Great Barrier Reef</strong></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-EpcYN066Nqo/UxGxJj8c4wI/AAAAAAAAEPk/f3bOda28OHo/s1600-h/Jealosea%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-J-whTkn0QM8/UxGxKXzmNqI/AAAAAAAAEPs/QMOERZgbNAQ/Jealosea_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="334" height="366"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-W4IkWS4JkLw/UxGxLnVTipI/AAAAAAAAEP0/wN2rGeiljsI/s1600-h/Jealosea_GBR%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JubcOJwEjRE/UxGxMsVsY-I/AAAAAAAAEP8/s_ayZVCUCjM/Jealosea_GBR_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="336" height="364"></a></p> <p>Jealosea is a stunning deep aqua with a lovely delicate shimmer through it. It’s almost a one coater but I did two just to be on the safe side. The formula is amazing. I’m in lurv!! </p> <p>I added accent nails of Great Barrier Reef, which is my favourite glitter of the collection. I love the vibrant purples, greens and blue glitters. This is just one coat so it’s got a lot of glitter packed into it!</p> <p> </p> <p>You can get these at the <a href="http://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">Sea Siren Cosmetics website</a> for $6.95 for a 5mL bottle and $15.95 for a huge 15mL bubble.</p> <p> </p> <p>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-44059259142656771702014-02-13T20:34:00.000+10:302014-02-13T20:46:54.459+10:30Sea Siren Cosmetics–Midnight Moves & Leucosia<p>Hi all!</p> <p>I’ve said it many times over the past couple of weeks and I’ll say it again now: I AM SICK OF THE HEAT!!!! We have had two days under 40 degrees (Celcius) in the past 28 days. NOT COOL. That’s what I get for living in the desert, I guess. We are supposed to have over 70mm of rain tomorrow. Bring it on, I say! There are some serious bushfires happening in my state at the moment so we need all the rain we can get.</p> <p> </p> <p>Anyway, I made a <a href="http://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">Sea Siren</a> Cosmetics order the other day after making my good friend Tracey drool over some of their shades. We ordered together to save on shipping and the gorgeous Deb, owner of Sea Siren, included a few of her classic creme shades.</p> <p>She included a white and black, which was perfect timing because I’ve been trying to find a decent white to buy lately!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ZZzcgP7RoCw/UvybOsI09PI/AAAAAAAAENI/b7d68A7TYlk/s1600-h/midnightmoves_leucosia%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-iPbsSJWIdxA/UvybPrDmC3I/AAAAAAAAENQ/AiKUHSi1rGA/midnightmoves_leucosia_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="303" height="460"></a></p> <p>These were amazing! Great formulas. The white did take three coats to be completely opaque but it wasn’t streaky, draggy or thick at all like most whites I’ve tried. It also doesn’t have that “just painted my nails with white out” look about it. The black was friggin’ awesome!!! It is almost a one coater. You could probably get away with one thick coat but I did two thin ones. The awesome formula meant I had barely any clean up and it was super easy to clean up and not stainy.</p> <p> </p> <p>Of course, there was one thing that popped into my head when I first saw the white and black polishes …</p> <p>DICE!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-uCE-zvbpRBU/UvybQlN7nOI/AAAAAAAAENY/hfYNGVkmmnY/s1600-h/midnightmoves_leucosia2%25255B18%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-f7AwyiLT96M/UvybRWy2rTI/AAAAAAAAENg/cqI7OE4bpI0/midnightmoves_leucosia2_thumb%25255B15%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="337" height="403"></a></p> <p>It’s amazing how the simplest of manis can be so eye catching and gorgeous. This is Sea Mist, a lovely pastel blue creme.</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-wQ0EqEXqCz4/UvH2LjkDrcI/AAAAAAAAEMw/M72ZX3443CY/s1600-h/SeaMist%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="SeaMist" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SeaMist" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-eHq9JB4fbGY/UvH2MlD_ZSI/AAAAAAAAEM4/fbFMa8QuPu8/SeaMist_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="336" height="391"></a></p> <p>Isn’t it luuurvely? This was two coats but I could nearly get away with one. The formula was butter smooth! I’m really enjoying these pastel cremes from Sea Siren. They are just so perfect for Summer! Pastels suit my skin tone and i got loads of compliments on this simple mani.</p> <p> </p> <p>Have you enjoyed the Sea Siren posts? That’s right, another beauty from <a href="http://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">Sea Siren</a> Cosmetics!! Are you enjoying these posts? I sure am!</p> <p> </p> <p>This is a beautiful mint green creme, Motion of the Ocean:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1G0wuMaKRYk/Uu4MIjYjiyI/AAAAAAAAEL0/lCBV-xtqTRM/s1600-h/MOTO%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="MOTO" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="MOTO" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-m3vs6yIHY4k/Uu4MJr3qBCI/AAAAAAAAEL8/_lgV9Pma0NY/MOTO_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="365" height="353"></a></p> <p>Oh, you are beautiful *strokes polish*. I love, love, LOVE this shade. I have always had a thing for a good mint creme and Motion of the Ocean doesn’t disappoint. Formula, as I’ve come to expect from Sea Siren, is perfect. It is almost opaque in one coat and you could probably get away with one coat if you painted a little thicker than normal. This is just a breathtaking colour and so summery and classy. It flatters my skin tone too – winner!</p> <p> </p> <p>I used Sea Siren’s Beachy Peachy to do a dotticure:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-1OkzUlyycjE/Uu4MK-ocDuI/AAAAAAAAEME/BEFNj2oUxkw/s1600-h/MOTO2%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img title="MOTO2" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="MOTO2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-C9NVBNZ0UsY/Uu4MLsYTXJI/AAAAAAAAEMM/FM6IQskhQkg/MOTO2_thumb%25255B12%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="193" height="191"></a></p> <p>Excuse this dodgy photo. I’m not sure why it turned out so orange … When I tried to tweak the colours it threw the mint way out and made it into a blue so I chose to have orange fingers <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smilewithtongueout" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Smile with tongue out" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-OeRZV9w1C80/Uu4MMfTjgJI/AAAAAAAAEMU/dr4GkYVAhug/wlEmoticon-smilewithtongueout%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p>I can’t really comment on Beachy Peachy yet because all I’ve done is dot with it, but I’ll be doing a full mani with it soon <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-HcN028dDkY4/Uu4MM8JY9hI/AAAAAAAAEMc/kXqkQAyqmFU/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> It’s certainly opaque enough to dot with and I didn’t have to use too much polish to get good, clean dots.</p> <p> </p> <p>How do you like dotticures?</p> <p>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-75583760605977009342014-02-02T19:21:00.000+10:302014-02-02T19:27:51.972+10:30Sea Siren Cosmetics–Tranquility and Pamper Me Pink<blockquote></blockquote> <p>Woohoo, I have some more <a href="http://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">Sea Siren</a> polishes to show you <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-IQ9jNUQMUjc/Uu4IfaXZ93I/AAAAAAAAELI/_5qPgW6H4Bo/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> I’ve had so much fun trying these out this weekend. This time I have Tranquility, a pastel purple creme, and Pamper Me Pink, a pastel pink creme.</p> <p> </p> <p>These babies are to die for:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-fxDWMRQXi8k/Uu4IgfnqPQI/AAAAAAAAELQ/OXnF_cdNP_8/s1600-h/Tranquility_PamperMePink%25255B19%25255D.jpg"><img title="Tranquility_PamperMePink" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Tranquility_PamperMePink" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-HiHKJPD0-fY/Uu4IhLZGnVI/AAAAAAAAELY/uI4PXYHccfI/Tranquility_PamperMePink_thumb%25255B16%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="309" height="379"></a></p> <p>Seriously. UNF! Perfect smooth, glossy coverage in two coats. These were nearly one coaters!! I am so, so impressed. The formula was impeccable and clean up was minimal because it was just so easy to apply!</p> <p>This is my favourite way to try out a couple of polishes: the thumb, pointer and middle fingers one colour and ring and pinkie fingers another! Pink and purple go well together and these two were no exception. Sorry if it seems like I’m gushing over these polishes but I just love them. Pastels can be streaky, slow drying and a general pain in the ass, but these pastels are the complete opposite. </p> <p> </p> <p>I jazzed them up a little with some nail stamping:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-hwtLXMd7lkY/Uu4IiUA8t7I/AAAAAAAAELg/D-xao-KyXc8/s1600-h/Tranquility_PMP%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="Tranquility_PMP" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Tranquility_PMP" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-SKBe5fONFyM/Uu4IjFyTk-I/AAAAAAAAELo/AjT-e2aQZD8/Tranquility_PMP_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="393"></a></p> <p>I used my Pueen plates and a silver stamping polish. Can you believe it? Another blog post from me. Aren’t you lucky? <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-d2XGuhitKDc/UuyLiPXwWkI/AAAAAAAAEJo/Snee3gv8tSU/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> Turns out having full weekends off for the first time in a few years is agreeing with me! Plenty of things to do to keep myself busy, that’s for sure.</p> <p> </p> <p>Sea Siren Cosmetics is a new Aussie indie who put the call out on their <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SeaSirenCosmetics" target="_blank">Facebook page</a> for swatchers not long ago. It took me a while, but I jumped at the chance to review some pretties. When Deborah, the owner and creator of Sea Siren, asked me what kind of polishes I’d like to review, can you guess what I said? CREMES! GIVE ME CREMEEEEEEEES! When you ask most nail fanatics what their favourite polish finish is, they usually say holo, glitter, duochrome … it’s not often that you get someone who says creme. But ladies, that’s me! I love cremes. I love them so much that I never have any new ones to try because I always try them as soon as I buy them <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-sadsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Sad smile" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-USWDkaphleo/UuyLi4RHENI/AAAAAAAAEJw/ZWrYqj8xNGI/wlEmoticon-sadsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> So I was chuffed when my Sea Siren parcel arrived.</p> <p> </p> <p>Let’s take a moment to talk about Sea Siren’s branding and packaging. Anyone who knows me knows that these things are very important to me. Having a bit of a background in graphic design and pursuing this field more recently, good packaging leaps out at me. Similarly, poor packaging really turns me off. It can be a make or break for some. </p> <p>Firstly, Sea Siren wrapped the polishes and other goodies so beautifully in blue tissue paper with her own branded labels on them. She included flyers with information about her products. </p> <p>Take a look:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-OKFeTfGptzc/UuyLjkVBsiI/AAAAAAAAEJ4/Pabh-YbAKOU/s1600-h/SeaSirenpresentation%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img title="SeaSirenpresentation" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SeaSirenpresentation" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-826lT9pnSqY/UuyLkUd7KRI/AAAAAAAAEKA/E0aXNqwkCHE/SeaSirenpresentation_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="304" height="537"></a></p> <p>Sorry for the dodgy phone pic, but I was at work and there was no way I was waiting until I got home where my camera was to rip into these bad boys. But just look how pretty it all is! It was a shame to destroy such lovingly wrapped parcels.</p> <p> </p> <p>Inside …</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-aHvjKD4ecks/UuyLk2FjSgI/AAAAAAAAEKI/M0xXuK0soKE/s1600-h/SeaSirenpackaging%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-XczCCec7ryM/UuyLlm7d71I/AAAAAAAAEKQ/hMQ7Viob4_g/SeaSirenpackaging_thumb%25255B12%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="383" height="295"></a></p> <p>AHHH MY GOD! SO CUTE! These boxes are stunning! The bottom ones are the big ‘bubbles’, as Deb calls them. They are a huge 15mL. The top are the Wanderlust minis and they are an ADORABLE 5mLs. I posted them together so you could see the size difference. The itty bitty boxes are so adorable! </p> <p>Deb sent me Tranquility (a pastel purple), Motion of the Ocean (pastel mint), Pamper Me Pink (pastel pink, duh) in the full size. The minis are Yellow Submarine (pastel yellow), Beachy Peachy (pastel peach) and Sea Mist (pastel blue). All delicious cremes <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-TFsbDLYqLTg/UuyLmYMsUaI/AAAAAAAAEKY/wcW-MlgR9T4/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>She also sent me something completely and utterly amazing.</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NBa7tHb2AW0/UuyLnNPU0vI/AAAAAAAAEKg/WMGydbPkSUc/s1600-h/SeaSirenpackaging2%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-UZXe1zsmBXM/UuyLn1JFzWI/AAAAAAAAEKo/ViEG9sBDkxU/SeaSirenpackaging2_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="386" height="243"></a></p> <p>MONT BLEU CRYSTAL FILES!!!!!!!!! I squealed when I saw these, I really did. It’s lucky I was by myself at work because I can imagine how silly I looked. She sent a hard cased one (the blue) which is GENIUS. I can keep it in my bag and not worry about it snapping and a gorgeous travel sized blue file with sparkly Swarovski crystals on it. Oh so beautiful. I had heard such good things about these files. I had only used cheap glass files in the past and was not impressed, but I’d heard these were different.</p> <p> </p> <p>I was NOT disappointed. I used them for the first time this morning and holy moley they work a treat! They are so smooth and SHARP! They take off a decent amount of length but they are not harsh on the nail at all. Usually I HATE the feeling of my nails after I’ve filed them but I didn’t after using Sea Siren’s file <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-TFsbDLYqLTg/UuyLmYMsUaI/AAAAAAAAEKY/wcW-MlgR9T4/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> I am completely in love. So completely in love. I think I need more of these products. Deb also stocks a cute little travel kit which has a travel sized Swarovski crystal file, a pair of nail scissors and some Swarovski encrusted tweezers all in a little case. LOVE!!</p> <p> </p> <p>I’m going to stop babbling now and show you the first of the Sea Siren polishes I used. This is Yellow Submarine:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-03MFitGx5NM/UuyLogTN_-I/AAAAAAAAEKw/3FVtiqcfzJ0/s1600-h/YellowSubmarine2ct%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img title="" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-8gwJi-ALIgg/UuyLpRgPenI/AAAAAAAAEK4/gbUzqvjgwqA/YellowSubmarine2ct_thumb%25255B11%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="299" height="438"></a></p> <p>A beautiful, glossy pastel yellow creme which is actually quite bright! This was two easy coats. Usually yellows are a pain in the rear to apply but this one was fine! It actually flattered my skin tone really well and looked so fresh.</p> <p> </p> <p>You can buy Sea Siren Cosmetics from the <a href="https://www.seasiren.com.au" target="_blank">website</a> and make sure you ‘like’ the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SeaSirenCosmetics" target="_blank">Facebook page</a> too! </p> <p> </p> <p>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-57183938078953325742014-01-21T19:21:00.001+10:302014-01-21T19:21:32.059+10:30Epic Nail Coupon Code<p>Hi all</p> <p> </p> <p>I’m just updating with the discount code that <a href="http://www.epicnail.com.au" target="_blank">Epic Nail</a> have kindly given to me to share with you all!</p> <p> </p> <p>If you go to <a href="http://www.epicnail.com.au">www.epicnail.com.au</a> and purchase anything, use coupon code “BLOGDESERT” for FREE SHIPPING!!! After working for myself for the past year and a half I leapt back into part time work as well as working for myself and then complicated things further by starting ANOTHER job! And then it was Christmas and New Year, I got more hours at one of my jobs because someone quit and yadiyadiyada. The result is my life being eat, work, sleep and repeat. </p> <p> </p> <p>Anywho, enough of my whingeing. I truly am happy with how things are at the moment <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-M-suR3hEqBU/Utnb1bsYZ8I/AAAAAAAAEI0/DXM7Mbmpx3g/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>I got some nail foils to review from Epic Nails. Now, I’ve never used nail foils before. Silly me assumed that they were like full nail stickers in that you applied the glue, pressed the foil on and then trimmed it and top coated it. WRONG!</p> <p>It’s a little more complicated than that. I painted my nails with the glue provided by Epic Nail and waited for it to dry and become tacky. I tried a few different lengths of time and found that 3-4 minutes was plenty. I had pre-cut strips of the foil to lay on my nail and applied them and then used a cuticle stick to rub the foil onto my nail. The foil actually separates from a plastic layer on the back of it and sticks to your nail!</p> <p>I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t a piece of cake. I chose to layer mine over an existing polish (<a href="www.lovethypolish.com" target="_blank">Love Thy Polish</a> A Beautiful Mistake) so it was a little more forgiving if I missed spots.</p> <p>So you place the piece of foil (design side down) on your nail and rub, rub, rub. Make sure you get the corners and sides! </p> <p>I ended up with this:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mzZGKCaOw78/Utnb2eftS2I/AAAAAAAAEI8/UUrte2qkudI/s1600-h/EpicNails%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img title="EpicNails" style="display: inline" alt="EpicNails" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-dTvheXVkryQ/Utnb3S8zuCI/AAAAAAAAEJE/VQcxlvBl7TM/EpicNails_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="302" height="382"></a></p> <p>Pretty cute, right? I did miss some spots but using a base colour meant they didn’t stick out like a sore thumb.</p> <p>These were SO sparkly and eye catching. I couldn’t stop looking at them! The design is so cute!</p> <p> </p> <p>I’ve heard that the tacky layer that you get after applying gel polish and before you wipe it off with alcohol is perfect to stick foils to. Unfortunately I couldn’t test this out because I don’t have a decent gel polish kit <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-sadsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Sad smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-6Xr3m7UhRcc/Utnb4JjSnlI/AAAAAAAAEJM/Yd1mYxhiIy4/wlEmoticon-sadsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> I bought one last year and it was pretty cheap and crappy and ended up damaging my natural nails because it was so difficult to remove!! Anywho, after speaking to a few friends they assure me that using gel polish is the way to go when applying foils, so give it a go!</p> <p> </p> <p>If you want to buy some Epic Nail foils that are truly epic, you can get them from <a href="http://www.epicnail.com.au" target="_blank">Epic Nail</a>. They also have a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/EpicNailAustralia" target="_blank">Facebook page</a>. They have kits available if you’re just starting or you can buy the foils separately. They have heaps of cool designs and also stock loads of other products.</p> <p>I will have a discount code for Nails in the Desert readers soon so stay tuned and you can get a pretty epic discount on Epic Nail stuff <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ao3Uq-oT-N4/Utnb4_OIaAI/AAAAAAAAEJU/hrZsM9d9nbI/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p>Hope you’ve enjoyed this post <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-left-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ao3Uq-oT-N4/Utnb4_OIaAI/AAAAAAAAEJU/hrZsM9d9nbI/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"><br>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-68780674232398120312013-11-24T12:37:00.000+10:302013-11-24T12:46:04.296+10:30Deadset Babes–Dark Night<p>Boy do I have a preeeetty polish to show you today! I recently bought some beautiful holos from <a href="http://www.deadsetbabes.com" target="_blank">Deadset Babes</a> and the lovely Bella threw in a couple of extras to review.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is After Dark, a new DSB polish which “a black creme base loaded with a purple to blue and slight red duochrome.” </p> <p> </p> <p>This is two coats: </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-l5kmTGvu0m8/UpFhP-4lUJI/AAAAAAAAEHg/YLekXW9hPY4/s1600-h/Darknight%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img title="Darknight" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Darknight" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-wS4IWHDCUvo/UpFhQxhQYnI/AAAAAAAAEHo/0yO10PxR8DE/Darknight_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="290" height="402"></a></p> <p>How beautiful is that? I know a lot of people do! But it’s just not my thing. I don’t really ‘do’ chunky glitters.</p> <p>BUT on the plus side, it did have an awesome formula. Two smooth coats, no dragging. There was a plethora of glitters that came out with each stroke so no fishing required at all. I was quite impressed!!!</p> <p>I do really love the combination of colours. They contrast really well. </p> <p> </p> <p>What do you think?<br><br>Em</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-12218070235125922392013-11-01T22:10:00.000+10:302013-11-01T22:27:19.191+10:30Rainbow Honey Apple Kid and Sakuri Matsuri Cuticle Balm<p>I have another beauty from Femme Fatale Cosmetics to show you lovely ladies today. She recently sent me Apple Kid and a cuticle balm. I’ve got a cuticle balm already which I <em>love</em>, and I just knew I’d love Apple Kid too. It is the perfect shade for Summer!</p> <p> </p> <p>Firstly, let’s talk about Rainbow Honey’s packaging. It is superb. Take a look at how my samples came:</p> <p><em><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-0B65KV7_WfQ/UnOXCTcQOMI/AAAAAAAAEF4/QXhG0B-8GC4/s1600-h/Presskit%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img title="Presskit" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Presskit" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-0ptbgLdys2g/UnOXDCGfMzI/AAAAAAAAEGA/Ow2OLPoVG70/Presskit_thumb%25255B13%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="347" height="365"></a> </em></p> <p>The polish fit snugly in the little sleeve at the bottom. The cuticle balm was also shrink wrapped in plastic to ensure strict hygiene.</p> <p>The time and effort put into this packaging really shines through. As I work in pre-press production and design at a newspaper and have my own polish brand, I really appreciate good branding and packaging. I also love the mini bottles Rainbow Honey use. A lot of minis have terrible, short brushes and are awkward to hold in photos. I’m happy to report that this bottle had none of those problems. The brush was great to use and the bottle is aesthetically pleasing.</p> <p> </p> <p>Anyway, enough of my babble and onto the polish! This is Apple Kid:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1tqpiQBjgKM/UnOXELBgjjI/AAAAAAAAEGI/Vlh5txQtUlA/s1600-h/Applekid2ct%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="Applekid2ct" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Applekid2ct" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-N_9aJW18DfE/UnOXE4PiZ4I/AAAAAAAAEGQ/siu3D_R0bWQ/Applekid2ct_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="350" height="330"></a></p> <p>Oh drool. I <em>adore</em> this. This was two easy coats. Application was flawless. Don’t you just love the shimmer through it? This is the type of colour that makes me happy! I’ve never actually used a Rainbow Honey polish before so I didn’t really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised!</p> <p>Then I tried the cuticle balm. I already have the Summer Juice scent which I love, and received the Sakuri Matsuri scent from Sophie at Femme Fatale. Rainbow Honey describes the scent as “Bright florals, exotic fruit, tea on Sunday afternoons, and just the right amount of sweetness reminiscent of my favorite lychee rice dumplings.” Spot on!</p> <p>I took a photo of the balm on my cuticles to show you that it is moisturising, yet non-greasy.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5eUlV8fdoaQ/UnOXFwvP33I/AAAAAAAAEGY/DaZv_tuStBY/s1600-h/SakuraMatsuriCuticle%25255B17%25255D.jpg"><img title="SakuraMatsuriCuticle" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SakuraMatsuriCuticle" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-g8PvkB8kAbM/UnOXGTct95I/AAAAAAAAEGg/FtvW7jS3lQQ/SakuraMatsuriCuticle_thumb%25255B14%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="351" height="336"></a></p> <p>See? I had only just put the balm on but it’s not overly shiny or greasy. It does absorb into the skin fairly quickly too so within five minutes my cuticles looked normal but hydrated.</p> <p>One of my favourite things about the cuticle balm is, you guessed it, the packaging! It comes in a slimline tube which would fit in even the smallest of purses. I take my Summer Juice balm everywhere with me.</p> <p>I can’t recommend these products enough! You can grab them both from <a href="http://www.femmefatalecosmetics.com" target="_blank">Femme Fatale Cosmetics.</a> Full sized (15mL – a generous size) polishes retail for AUD$11.85 and the cuticle balm is a measly AUD$5.50. Sophie ships internationally now too which is awesome!</p> <p> </p> <p>Hope you’ve enjoyed my babblings, or at least gotten to the end of this post <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y4xEnF_IyoM/UnOXHJZVhxI/AAAAAAAAEGo/jJwNQmb_lus/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"><br>Em </p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-16380609406538985632013-10-25T20:38:00.000+10:302013-10-25T20:52:03.449+10:30MUD Lavender Fever and Meet Minty with Delush Star Gazer<p>Hellooooo everyone!</p> <p>Long time no blog! Life has been a little crazy so the poor blog has fallen by the wayside. Never fear, I am back <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-iyeCTck-9PY/UmpGMfCYXNI/AAAAAAAAED8/MCkZ1B-2kFU/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> I’m not self indulged enough to believe you all missed me, but I am glad to be back blogging!</p> <p>What has kick started this, you ask? Well, I have some lovely little polishes from <a href="http://www.femmefatalecosmetics.com.au" target="_blank">Femme Fatale Cosmetics</a> to show you! I’ll just show you one today, but it’s a pretty one.</p> <p> </p> <p>Firstly, I picked up a couple of the new MUDs in Woolies. They were on special for $1.50 each – you can’t beat that! The two I used as my base coats are Lavender Fever and Meet Minty. They are both gorgeous, summery colours. The weather is heating up here in the desert so it’s time I get out of the habit of wearing dark, vampy colours. </p> <p>I got a mini of Delush Polish Star Gazer in my press kit from Femme Fatale. It’s a neon glitter topper. I hadn’t actually heard of Delush Polish before, let alone tried them, so it was good to get something different!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-AInDfQH8kgk/UmpGNC9c1zI/AAAAAAAAEEE/wnjN-SqSYfA/s1600-h/bottle%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="bottle" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="bottle" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-JPsNLnk4e6w/UmpGN3pRYhI/AAAAAAAAEEM/Lnqr_-aEaPw/bottle_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="224" height="379"></a></p> <p>I admit, this isn’t my usual style of polish. When I got it I thought “It’s okay, I’ll just swatch it on four fingers and take it off straight away”. Then when I painted my nails using Lavender Fever and Meet Minty, I realised it was the perfect base colours to try Star Gazer on. So I decided to do a full mani with it!</p> <p>This is using one coat of Star Gazer over the top of Lavender Fever and Meet Minty:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-rMPuxIgZctQ/UmpGO0K-SwI/AAAAAAAAEEU/XKJC2i0n4oo/s1600-h/LavenderFever%25252BMeetMinty%25252BStarGazer1ct%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="LavenderFever MeetMinty StarGazer1ct" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="LavenderFever MeetMinty StarGazer1ct" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-To0woU-CDbI/UmpGPmuVwzI/AAAAAAAAEEc/ChnbpP1p0ps/LavenderFever%25252BMeetMinty%25252BStarGazer1ct_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="353" height="327"></a></p> <p>It’s pretty, huh!? It almost looks like two different polishes over the different base colours because over the purple, the neon yellows and greens really pop, but over the green, the pinks and purples jump out at you. I ended up really liking this polish <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Open-mouthed smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-sLIoFK-cIEg/UmpGQXSii3I/AAAAAAAAEEk/qP0naJ4B9Rg/wlEmoticon-openmouthedsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> What a pleasant surprise!</p> <p> </p> <p>I added an extra coat just to see if it was worth doing:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-HPkfwGTPt3c/UmpGRQdUV5I/AAAAAAAAEEs/SoGPrPeyNZQ/s1600-h/LavenderFever%25252BMeetMinty%25252BStarGazer2cts%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img title="LavenderFever MeetMinty StarGazer2cts" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="LavenderFever MeetMinty StarGazer2cts" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zHO8N4Zutv4/UmpGSWWV3OI/AAAAAAAAEE0/zv5ZgXlxND8/LavenderFever%25252BMeetMinty%25252BStarGazer2cts_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="354" height="370"></a></p> <p>As you can see, you do get a fair bit more glitter with your second coat. I definitely think it’s worth the extra time! Being a glitter topper, this dried incredibly quickly and one coat of Seche Vite was all I needed to smooth it out.</p> <p> </p> <p>Overall, I’m pretty chuffed that I got this polish for review because it is not something I would usually choose for myself, but I really enjoy wearing it!</p> <p> </p> <p>You can get Delush Polish from <a href="http://www.femmefatalecosmetics.com.au" target="_blank">Femme Fatale Cosmetics</a> for AUD$12.00 each. Sophie now ships internationally, so that is great news! She has many other brands including Cirque, Emily de Molly, Gloss n Sparkle, Girly Bits, Enchanted Polish and, of course, my own brand <a href="http://www.lovethypolish.com" target="_blank">Love Thy Polish</a>! </p> <p> </p> <p>What do you think? Everyone posts on the same day, at the same time. <br />
This year I was lucky enough to be selected for Blogfest and the theme was nail art. <br />
Uh oh. Nail art. Hrmm.. My version of nail art is to do some nail stamping. I knew I’d have to put my thinking cap on for this one.<br />
Luckily there are some nail art ideas out there for us not-so-talented nail artists. I’ve put together a tutorial on some simple nail art that anyone can do – a “Nail Art for Dummies”, if you will.<br />
<br />
Away we go!<br />
First, select the piCture pOlish shades that you plan to use:<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-OzeHzfcP5us/UeaOKtIp90I/AAAAAAAAD6E/yUdhEgHGyZ4/s1600-h/1%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="1" border="0" height="285" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-XIr4f1k9EM4/UeaJb9KHw2I/AAAAAAAAD6M/enKc2DaW2HU/1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="1" width="427" /></a><br />
Lucky me was given Antique, Mardi Gras and Atomic. <br />
<br />
There’s a little bit of prep work involved so make sure you do these few steps the night before you plan to do your mani.<br />
Grab a sheet of household baking paper and paint a few coats of polish onto it. Allow it to dry overnight.<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-PPWnFHx0zfw/UeaJcoYWHTI/AAAAAAAAD6U/sjTXEoQqSJI/s1600-h/2%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="2" border="0" height="286" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-LMgDswlEwdY/UeaJdKdu0pI/AAAAAAAAD6c/UkioFZSCmAI/2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="2" width="429" /></a><br />
I wasn’t sure how much I was going to end up using so I painted quite large strips. You don’t have to wait too long in between coats for the polish to dry, just make sure you wait at least six or so hours after the final coat.<br />
<br />
Carefully use tweezers to peel off your polish strips.<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-0QqMSMl28ME/UeaJd1Y5IoI/AAAAAAAAD6k/c8X5VQpb-8E/s1600-h/3%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="3" border="0" height="323" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-u3B917ya1zo/UeaJeV0JeHI/AAAAAAAAD6s/ZcYKVy8shs8/3_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="3" width="428" /></a><br />
<br />
Grab a craft punch from somewhere like Lincraft or Spotlight. They are pretty inexpensive (mine was $7). Use it to punch the shape out of the polish.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-_gqUkr2RkQg/UeaJfPEVNzI/AAAAAAAAD60/_rqo83jzByI/s1600-h/4%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="4" border="0" height="306" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-rzcTReXz1hY/UeaJf5YilPI/AAAAAAAAD68/HSDxvPjvGpM/4_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="4" width="425" /></a><br />
Be careful as the polish can get quite brittle! You may need to lightly pull the polish away from the punch.<br />
You can also use scissors to cut out thin strips or pinking shears to cut zig zagged strips.<br />
<br />
You’ll end up with a lot of pretty shapes and, in my case, some sparkly strips.<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Hy7kreraZQY/UeaJgcgriXI/AAAAAAAAD7E/cFtjotLEQOU/s1600-h/5%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="5" border="0" height="311" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-mw0cvNcpltY/UeaJg9cNK8I/AAAAAAAAD7M/sT3F72V97mM/5_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="5" width="420" /></a><br />
<br />
Now we’re ready to paint the nails!<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-x7hdJgyBl54/UeaJhmxH-0I/AAAAAAAAD7U/S5htZOAFVO8/s1600-h/6%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="6" border="0" height="350" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-56XVyXn3kkM/UeaJiKz1ExI/AAAAAAAAD7c/QuX44p9VoJs/6_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="6" width="419" /></a><br />
I used Atomic as my base colour with an accent nail of Antique. Atomic is such a pretty but subtle colour. <br />
Antique is almost a one coater but I did two coats to be on the safe side. Atomic seemed quite sheer at first but it built up nicely with three coats.<br />
<br />
Grab your third polish. In my case, it’s Mardi Gras, a multi coloured glitter topper.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-EEqSMZ2pKdY/UeaJi4xwD2I/AAAAAAAAD7k/-UR18M4DGHw/s1600-h/7%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="7" border="0" height="359" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-YZmWql2fUBE/UeaJkMubcCI/AAAAAAAAD7s/FunbnOi644k/7_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="7" width="419" /></a><br />
I chose to go simple with this one. I simply painted two coats of Mardi Gras over Antique. It’s a subtle but glamorous look!<br />
<br />
Use either a toothpick, a metal manicure tool or a dotting tool to pick up one of your shapes.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-OZ7tJQBVX80/UeaJlPx7TWI/AAAAAAAAD70/e7jZAIrCq1w/s1600-h/8%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="8" border="0" height="323" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ZvjXBBctehQ/UeaJlnHc-ZI/AAAAAAAAD78/XuEUdKVXhyY/8_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="8" width="420" /></a><br />
Dip whatever tool you’re using into a slow-drying top coat first so you can stick it to the nail properly.<br />
<br />
Carefully lay it on the nail in the position you want. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-visiUQreJoU/UeaJmPTdmuI/AAAAAAAAD8E/lIicBcp2fgw/s1600-h/9%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="9" border="0" height="331" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1z8B64wioEM/UeaJm4Dqk1I/AAAAAAAAD8M/JSB1glptoBc/9_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="9" width="421" /></a><br />
Try not to move it around too much because you may smudge the base colour! <br />
You can use cuticle nippers to cut off any overhanging bits.<br />
I then did the same with the polish strips to form a diagonal line pattern.<br />
<br />
Add a coat of top coat and you will end up with this:<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-zjpNLGesZsk/UeaJnjbK2II/AAAAAAAAD8U/nXt3SVB33tw/s1600-h/10%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="10" border="0" height="438" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-FRyONZt9K4g/UeaJoIi_GeI/AAAAAAAAD8c/UDP3T_l3pdI/10_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="10" width="359" /></a><br />
There you have it, a pretty yet simple to do nail art manicure. <br />
<br />
Now sit back, relax, and throw your arms out in glee!<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-l8KXdLZQDsI/UeaJtGpMMHI/AAAAAAAAD8k/ccabnWtRsg0/s1600-h/11%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="11" border="0" height="407" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6-Ahz40p3ek/UeaJuItq7pI/AAAAAAAAD8s/39LiWxzsSN8/11_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="11" width="424" /></a><br />

I can hardly believe I’ve stuck to it this long. While I’ve been a little irregular with my posting in the past six months or so, I always come back to the blog when I’m ready <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-AzIkAFSCqas/UbLnMgjX6zI/AAAAAAAAD1g/KWCEkERzf7E/wlEmoticon-smile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"></p> <p> </p> <p>I wanted to take a look at how my manis have changed and improved over time.</p> <p> </p> <p>This was my first mani I showed on the blog:</p> <p><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-mTyMmHiLl5I/TfXJu2hWQ1I/AAAAAAAAABM/vLhigQp9HGg/s1600/Pink-Glitter-130611%25255B8%25255D.jpg" width="333" height="452"></p> <p>This was also my first EVER frankenpolish *hangs head in shame*. This was back in the days where I thought you could add just any glitter to a nail polish and it would work. So I used some craft glitter I got from the local newsagent. I tell you what, I must be ahead in the trends because this could definitely be a textured polish <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Winking smile" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-JmYVVh-iZBY/UbLnNOVMvmI/AAAAAAAAD1o/3udBFZCUdWI/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"> It was gritty and bumpy but I was proud of it because it was my first!</p> <p> </p> <p>This was the first mani I showed on the blog of another brand:</p> <p><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-2dt_YxgzF9A/TfgUYkbXjII/AAAAAAAAACg/UIpObJ3sAM0/s1600/OceanBreeze2Coats%25255B5%25255D.jpg" width="349" height="461"></p> <p>I thought this was a great photo at the time. Now all I can see is messy application, zero clean up and uneven nails. I still have this polish but I haven’t used it since.</p> <p> </p> <p>This was my first attempt at nail stamping:</p> <p><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y6dhUYa6t4Y/ThGfSZ-mP1I/AAAAAAAAAHU/nEIVvw_qK1g/s1600/IndianNights3coats%25255B3%25255D.jpg" width="376" height="319"></p> <p>I hadn’t quite worked out how to line up the stamps and apply a top coat without smudging. I was very proud of this at the time!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>This was my first Spectrafranken, September 2011:</p> <p><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-9-pEdLuEqpU/Tnr7aNjcbsI/AAAAAAAAAiI/uVCi7KRFeFI/s1600/HotStuff2ct%25255B12%25255D.jpg" width="375" height="265"></p> <p>Now this one, I still love. I used Ulta3s Bouquet as a base colour and added Spectraflair, which I bought from <a href="www.morenailpolish.com" target="_blank">Cathy at More Nail Polish</a>. This sparked my obsession with making my own nail polish.</p> <p> </p> <p>And when I learnt I could actually buy suspension base, tints, pigments etc and make my own polish from scratch, I created this, November 2011:</p> <p><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-drhDMjo3L6Y/TruS0TM0EGI/AAAAAAAAA8o/W6bCH3FkXAA/s1600/BloodyMary2ct_3%25255B10%25255D.jpg" width="380" height="310"> </p> <p>I called it Bloody Mary. It was a squishy red jelly with red micro glitter and red holo hexes. I’m pretty sure I still have this somewhere.</p> <p> </p> <p>And the rest is history. <a href="www.lovethypolish.com" target="_blank">Love Thy Polish</a> was born and more pretty colours were created.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is my current mani:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-luea8GRdCw8/UbLrbyXs5lI/AAAAAAAAD14/syPA3tUxcTg/s1600-h/Camomania%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img title="Camomania" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Camomania" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-uzA3klDAFJI/UbLrckBK4HI/AAAAAAAAD2A/oapdq6ls5xY/Camomania_thumb%25255B14%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="378" height="481"></a></p> <p>This is two coats of MUD Camomania with some stamping from the Pueen Love Elements plates. I love it! </p> <p>I feel like I’ve come such a long way in these past two years. Sometimes I feel insecure about my manis and if they are good enough but I know in myself that I have improved 100% since the start of my blogging days.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thank you so much for reading my blog <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" style="border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none" alt="Smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Q8vd8hXdtW0/UbLrdNLGxKI/AAAAAAAAD2I/8Ewvo0yRQ2U/wlEmoticon-smile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800"><br>Em xxx</p> Emhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475155784380737797noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810694062588215162.post-40916857705325369782013-06-08T18:02:00.000+09:302013-06-08T18:09:03.073+09:30Love Thy Polish sale!<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-TDE37YkSpBY/UbLtoj6mGcI/AAAAAAAAD2Y/6tlxd38xWIg/s1600-h/Celebrationsale%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="Celebrationsale" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Celebrationsale" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-3Z4hJQO-AIM/UbLtpYA3PvI/AAAAAAAAD2g/2kEKvW4ziQA/Celebrationsale_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="414" height="414"></a></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="www.lovethypolish.com" target="_blank">Love Thy Polish</a> is having a sale to say THANK YOU for your support over the past 18 months.
